Students receive an in depth instruction on Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Access). This course enhances students’ ability to create professional business documents such as letters, reports, brochures, and newsletters. The course is a must for students going to college or entering the job market. In addition, students will get a chance to work on other software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premier. In the end, students may opt to take the Microsoft Office Systems (MOS) exam and receive certification from Microsoft. Industry recognized Certification documents enhance students' portfolios and resumes.
Assignments, Make Ups, and Cheating
Assignments will be assigned almost daily. The majority of the assignments are due the next day when you return to class. All work will be assigned through classroom.google.com. If you need help or have questions, don't hesitate to ask. How much effort you put in will determine how much you will get out of it.
If you are absent, please check in your Google classroom to see what's being assigned. All make ups are due within 2-3 days upon you returning. If you have questions or need help, just ask.
Never cheat, share, copy, or plagiarize. If you do, I'll know it eventually. You may be reported to parents, counselor, or admins. Instead, ask for help or more time to complete work, if needed.
Grading
Most assignments are worth 10 to 20 points each; tests and projects are worth more. Here's a basic grading scale for most assignments.
A = 9-10 pts
B = 8
C = 7
D = 6
F = 1-5
Extra Credits
Extra credit assignments are not a right but a privilege. Thus, extra credit work maybe offered to all or just some based on needs. Please note that you won't be given an extra credit assignment unless you've attempted most or all of your work. Extra credit work is designed to help you when you're at a border, for example, from a D- to a D or a B+ to an A-. It won't raise your grade from an F to even a passing grade if you routinely skip most of your assignments.
Quarter/Semester Grading Scale
Grades are broken down into two semesters: Fall and Spring. The Fall semester consists of Quarters 1 and 2. Spring semester include Quarters 3 and 4. The Quarter 1 and 2 grades will then be averaged for your first semester grade; likewise, Quarters 3 and 4 for second semester. Here's a standard grading scale:
A = 90-100
B = 80-89
C = 70-79

F = 0-59
